Surveys about the use of injection pens

Earlier user surveys highlighted several practical challenges faced by people using insulin pens:

More than one-third reported skipping doses or not taking their insulin correctly, on average three times per month. *

80% reported regularly being unsure about the time of their last injection, and 80% of these experienced this uncertainty within the first four hours after injection.**

50% regularly experienced difficulties with injections in reduced light.**

40% regularly experienced difficulties with injections on the go, particularly without stable seating.**

More than 10% reported having shaky hands **

These findings illustrate that remembering the time of an injection is only one of several challenges associated with using insulin pens. Although the surveys focused on insulin users, some of these practical challenges may also be relevant to patients using injection pens for other treatments.

The results helped shape the development of DUKADA Trio, our original Smart Cap, which combined a timer with needle illumination and an improved grip to address practical challenges in everyday insulin use.

Building on this experience, we have developed DUKADA Sense, a connected Smart Cap platform designed to automatically detect and record injection doses and timing and enable digital integration. The technology has potential applications across a range of injection pen therapies, extending beyond diabetes.

Our goal remains the same: to make injection treatments easier and more convenient for patients.
